Huge fire breaks out as Russians launch air strike on Kharkiv region’s Vovchansk

Russian troops have been shelling the border areas of the Kharkiv region’s Kharkiv, Chuhuiv and Kupiansk districts over the past day. Four civilians were reported injured.

The relevant statement was made by Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Syniehubov on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In the evening of April 18, 2023, Russian invaders launched an air strike on the Kharkiv region’s Vovchansk. Two residential houses and household buildings were damaged, as well as a local market. A huge fire broke out, having affected about 60 trading pavilions.

A married couple, 68 and 54, were injured and received medical aid at the scene. Information about casualties is yet to be updated.

In the Kupiansk district’s Petropavlivka, at least five residential houses were damaged. An 18-year-old girl was injured and taken to hospital in moderately grave condition.

In the Kupiansk district’s Dvorichna, a 77-year-old woman was injured. She was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Additionally, the enemy shelling caused a forest fire in the Kupiansk district’s Kutkivka.

According to Syniehubov, the mine danger is persisting in the Kharkiv region. Over the past day, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service has inspected about 20 hectares and neutralized 100 explosive items.
