Netherlands, Denmark to send 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine
The Netherlands and Denmark will hand over 14 German-made Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine.
Dutch Minister of Defense Kajsa Ollongren wrote this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
“The Netherlands and Denmark are to deliver 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine. Together with other partners in the ‘tank coalition’ we are providing Ukraine with modern main battle tanks with which it can resist Russian aggression, now and in the future," she wrote.
The Dutch Ministry of Defense notes that these main battle tanks will be delivered to Ukraine as soon as possible, after undergoing an overhaul.
"The determination of Ukrainians encourages us to continue providing military support. In addition, Ukrainian and European security are inextricably linked," Ollongren said.
As reported by Ukrinform, Germany handed over 18 Leopard 2A6 tanks to Ukraine. Ukraine also received three 2A6 Leopard tanks from Portugal.
On April 12, Defense Minister Margarita Robles announced that Leopard tanks would be delivered to Ukraine in the coming days. Four more tanks are being repaired and will be sent later.
