Ukrainian border guards repel two Russian attacks in Bakhmut
Soldiers of Ukraine's State Border Guard Service have repelled two attacks by Russian troops in Bakhmut, Donetsk region, and neutralized at least nine invaders.
That's according to the State Border Guard Service, Ukrinform reports.
Last night one of the border units twice engaged in a battle with groups of Russian shock forces who were trying to approach the positions of the Ukrainian defenders in the dark.
Using a thermal imager, the border guards detected the movement of enemy soldiers among the ruins, allowed them to reach an optimal distance and opened fire on them using small arms and grenade launchers.
After an unsuccessful assault attempt, the invaders pulled up reserve forces and unsuccessfully attempted to break through the defenses again.
"At dawn, the enemy retreated with losses. Repelling the attack, the border guards neutralized at least nine occupiers, eliminating three of them and injuring six others," the border agency said.
