Partners have trained 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers - German MP
Ukraine's Western partners have trained more than 60,000 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, which is a great contribution.
Roderich Kiesewetter, a German MP from the conservative CDU party, said this on the Maybrit Illner talk show on the ZDF TV channel on Thursday, April 20, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
The politician said Western partners had trained more than 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers. All of them will return to Ukraine in May-June, he added.
"Ukrainians are extremely ingenious, especially when it comes to the intelligence network, how to combine everything. [...] We can learn [from them] here," Kiesewetter said.
He emphasized the need not only to do everything for the Ukrainians to win back their territory, but also to support their morale with clear prospects.
"Ukraine is doing a lot for the defense of Europe. It is also receiving a lot for this. But we should not tremble and hesitate, but clearly say what security guarantees we will provide for the morale of Ukrainians. [...] We need something that Ukraine and its people will be able to hold on to," Kiesewetter said, adding that not only the EU but also NATO should provide membership prospects for Ukraine.
