Enemy continues to build fortifications, mine territories in Zaporizhzhia region

In Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy continues to build fortifications, deploy anti-tank weapons, and mine the territories in anticipation of Ukraine’s counteroffensive.

"In Zaporizhzhia direction, the nature of the enemy's actions has not changed. The enemy expects a counteroffensive and continues to build fortifications, deploy anti-tank weapons, and mine the territories," Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, the head of the joint press center of the defense forces of Tavria direction, said during the national news telethon.

In addition, he noted that the Russians continue going on the offense in Avdiivka direction and actively defend themselves in Novopavlivka and Orikhiv directions.

In Donetsk direction, the enemy concentrated its main efforts on Avdiivka direction.

Dmytrashkivskyi also reported that the enemy carried out assault operations with the goal of capturing the strongholds of the first echelon. It happened in the area of Novokalynove, Pervomaisk, and Marinka.

"The enemy carried out 28 assault operations but had no success in these directions. Instead, they suffered losses of about two companies of personnel (approximately 200 people killed and wounded) and 10 pieces of equipment," he emphasized.

The spokesperson also noted that there are no active military operations in Vuhledar direction, and the invaders are likely to resume assaults in the area in the near future. "Having lost a lot of personnel in Avdiivka and Marinka directions, I think the enemy will focus on Vuhledar direction," he said.

In addition, during the night, the enemy shelled the positions of the Ukrainian defenders 186 times: 30 times in Zaporizhzhia direction and 156 times in Donetsk direction.

As reported, from February 24, 2022 to April 23, 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 186,420 Russian aggressors, including 690 soldiers over the past day.
