Ukraine doing all to have its NATO membership application considered at Vilnius summit - Stefanchuk

The Ukrainian authorities are doing everything to ensure that Ukraine's application for NATO membership is considered at the summit in Vilnius.

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk stated this on national television, according to Ukrinform.

"We very much hope for the summit to be held in Vilnius. And we are doing everything we can to ensure that Ukraine's application is considered at this summit and that Ukraine receives a clear and understandable plan for its further movement," he said.

In this context, he noted that the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine should not take place through the NATO Membership Action Plan, "no long doors, no closed windows." Stefanchuk emphasized that this should be a clear and understandable plan that was followed by Finland and that Sweden is currently following.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky accepted the invitation to attend the NATO summit in Vilnius in July.
