War update: Russian attacks cause lot of destruction, casualties, injuries in eight regions
The Russian Federation army attacked eight Ukraine regions in 24 hours, killing and injuring civilians.
That's according to a summary from Regional Military Administrations Information on the situation in the regions of Ukraine as of 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, Ukrinform reports.
In Chernihiv region, Russian forces fired four times on the previous day. At night, they shelled the territory of Chernihiv and Novhorod-Siversky districts with mortars. There were no casualties or damage.
In Sumy region, at night and in the morning, Russians fired at Seredyno-Budsk, Znob-Novgorod, Bilopil and Esman territorial communities.
A house in the Seredyna-Buda community was damaged due to hostile shelling. In the village of Znob-Trubchevsk, a household caught fire due to mortar shelling.
Yesterday, during the day, Russians fired at four border communities - Khotyn, Bilopil, Yunakiv and Esman. There were 70 hits from mortars, artillery and grenade launchers recorded. There is destruction.
Power grids were damaged in Yunakiv and Khotyn communities as a result of the shelling.
In Zaporizhzhia region, the Russian army made 67 attacks on 19 communities over the last day: 53 artillery attacks, 6 MLRS attacks, seven attacks using drones and an air strike. There were 37 reports of destruction.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, militants shelled Nikopol district yesterday evening. They opened fire from heavy artillery on Marhanets and Nikopol.
Two women, aged 64 and 77, were injured in Marganets. They will be treated on an outpatient basis. Two administrative buildings, eight private houses and apartment buildings were damaged in the town. Two outbuildings were destroyed, and 12 were damaged. A gas pipeline and power lines were also damaged.
In Nikopol, a private enterprise, an apartment building, a shop and cars were damaged.
In the Kharkiv region, in the Slobozhansky direction, the Russian troops fired artillery and mortar shells at the settlements of Udy, Veterynarne, Zelene, Neskuchne, Strilecha, Ohirtseve, Hatyshche and Ambarne.
In the Kupiansk sector, Topoli, Kamianka, Krasne Pershne, Figolivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Lyman Pershne, Kupiansk and Kislivka came under fire.
Yesterday morning, Russian troops launched a rocket attack on the center of Kupiansk. The building of the local history museum was destroyed, the court and administrative buildings of the Kupiansk city council were damaged, and a fire broke out.
Two women were killed in the attack - a 57-year-old museum director and a 54-year-old museum employee. Another ten people were injured.
In the Luhansk region, Russians fired 90 times at Ukrainian troops' positions over the last day.
Novoselivske, Nevske, Dibrova and Bilohorivka came under artillery fire. The situation in the region remains tense.
In Donetsk region, Russians launched a missile attack on Druzhkivka at night. A residential building and a police administrative building were damaged, and three police officers were injured.
In the Volnovakha direction, Rusian troops shelled Novoukrainka twice and Prechystivka.
In the Donetsk direction, eight houses in Novohrodivka were damaged. Mariinka was shelled continuously at night, and Kurakhivka was also under enemy fire.
In the Horlivka direction, Russians shelled Kostiantynivka three times, damaging seven houses. Shelling of the outskirts of Chasiv Yar, Soledar and Illinivka communities was also recorded.
In the Lysychansk direction, a house in Siversk was destroyed, and several others were partially damaged. Zvanivka and Pereyizne were shelled throughout the day.
In the Kherson region, the invaders made 75 attacks, 11 of them in Kherson.
Russians hit residential areas of 28 settlements and buildings of two shops and a church (Kizomys village, Bilozerska community). One person was injured as a result of the shelling.
Other 118 people were evacuated from the territory of Kherson region, liberated from the Russians.
