Ukraine returns 42 defenders, two civilians from Russian captivity

As part of another prisoner swap, Ukraine has returned home 42 Ukrainian servicemen and two civilians.

Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"We managed to return home 44 of our people. Among them - 36 private soldiers and sergeants and six officers. These are soldiers, border guards, national guardsmen, sailors. People who defended Mariupol, Azovstal, Kherson region, fought against the enemy in the east. We also freed two civilians,” he said.

According to Yermak, among those released are injured people who had been tortured by the enemy in captivity.

He also said that there are two men whose wives had been released from captivity earlier.

As reported, since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, 2,238 people, including 140 civilians, were released from Russian captivity as of April 24.
