Russians use Iskander-K missiles which are difficult to detect – Air Force spox

During the latest missile attack on Ukraine, Russian forces used, in particular, Iskander-K ground-based missiles which are difficult to detect and can be launched from short distances.

"According to the specified information, Iskander-K missiles were flying from the southern direction. This is also a cruise missile that, in principle, has the same tactical and technical characteristics as Kalibr but Iskander-K is a ground-based cruise missile, not ballistic. This missile flies very low and, therefore, it’s difficult to detect it and shoot it down. However, our air defense units downed such missiles," Yuriy Ihnat, Spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said during national news telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He added that the feature of Iskander-K missile is the possibility to launch it from a short distance.

The spokesman also said that the invaders fired missiles from four Tu-95 tactical aircraft which normally operate in the Caspian Sea area.
