Death toll in missile strike on Uman rises to 10
Rescuers pulled the body of the tenth killed person from the rubble of the section of an apartment block destroyed by a Russian missile in Uman, Cherkasy region.
"Unfortunately, the death toll in Uman has increased. The rescuers have just retrieved three more bodies of the killed Uman residents from the rubble. A total of 10 victims of Russian aggression as of 10:05," Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko said, the Ministry’s press service informs.
Klymenko reported that, according to preliminary data, 109 people lived in the destroyed section.
The rubble of the destroyed section will be cleared away for a day, he predicts.
"We organized the works as quickly as possible so that if there are living people under the ruins, we could free them as quickly as possible. Dog handlers work... Clearing away the rubble of the destroyed entrance in Uman will take a day," Klymenko said.
As Uman deputy mayor Svitlana Volosheniuk told an Ukrinform correspondent at the scene, a ten-year-old girl was killed in the missile strike on a residential building.
According to her information, nine injured people were hospitalized, a 25-year-old woman is in serious condition.
The bodies of an unidentified woman and man are in the morgue.
Ihor Taburets, Head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that two ten-year-old children are among the ten killed.
As reported, the Russians hit Uman with missiles. In one of the apartment blocks, 46 apartments were completely destroyed.
