Reznikov, Naiev discuss plans to strengthen Ukraine's border defenses
As part of a working trip to the Sumy region, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov met with Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev to discuss plans regarding the strengthening of border defenses.
The relevant statement was made by the Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The meeting was also attended by Sumy Regional Military Administration Head Volodymyr Artiukh, Commander of the Sumy Operational and Tactical Group, Major General Vasyl Osypchuk, and the heads of local self-government authorities.
Among other things, the participants discussed a number of issues related to the security situation in the region.
According to Reznikov, the country’s defense is the most important task. In his words, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other elements of the Defense Forces have a sufficient level of combat training to perform the assigned tasks.
Reznikov presented awards to Ukrainian defenders for their dedication and professional competence, as well as military and civil volunteers, and the heads of communities.
The Minister of Defense noted the contribution of both servicemen and civilians to Ukraine’s resistance to the enemy, adding that, without their sacrifice and devotion, it would have been harder to defend the country and repel Russian attacks.
Reznikov stressed the importance of uniting efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s border defenses and protect civilians.
