Over 90% of Mariupol destroyed: Zelensky shares satellite imagery of war-torn city
There are almost no intact houses left in the Donetsk region’s Mariupol. Over 90% of the city is now lying in ruins.
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Facebook, having posted a corresponding video showing the Google satellite images, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Mariupol. Almost half a million people once lived there. And now there are almost no intact houses left. The terrorist state did everything to kill this city. Over 90% of Mariupol is destroyed,” the Head of State wrote.
The video has been created by the United 24 team and shows a comparison of the satellite images of Mariupol in 2023 and 2021.
Earlier, Google updated the satellite images of Mariupol on Google Maps.
A reminder that Russian armed aggression caused one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in the Donetsk region’s Mariupol. Russian occupiers are demolishing the houses affected by Russian attacks to hide the traces of their crimes. Over 300 buildings have already been demolished.
