Netherlands sends war crimes investigation team to Ukraine for third time

At the beginning of this week, the Netherlands sent a war crimes investigation team to Ukraine for the third time.

That's according to the Netherlands Ministry of Defense, Ukrinform reports.

"A forensic and investigation team left for Ukraine at the beginning of this week to investigate war crimes," the ministry said.

It added that this time the issue concerns an approximately 60-strong team, which also includes nine Czech experts.

The group includes experts from the military police of the Netherlands and other units of the Ministry of Defense.

The team's duties are to investigate and secure evidence. This is done under the auspices of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The team of experts first visited Ukraine in May last year. Their second visit to Ukraine was the end of last year. Evidence was collected and submitted to the International Criminal Court.

On March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Children's Ombudswoman Lvova-Belova who are suspected of illegally deporting children from the occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia since at least February 2022.
