Russian invaders far from seizing ‘road of life’ to Bakhmut – Cherevatyi
Russian invaders are far from seizing the ‘road of life’ between the Donetsk region’s Chasiv Yar and Bakhmut, which is used to deliver food, medicines, weapons and other necessary goods for the military and civilians.
The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for the Eastern Grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Cherevatyi in a commentary to ZN.UA, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“For several weeks now, Russians have been talking about seizing the ‘road of life’, as well as about constant fire control over it. In fact, everything is different. Yes, it is indeed difficult there, because their attempts to seize the road continue, as well as attempts to establish fire control. But, thanks to the servicemen from the Special Operations Forces, artillerymen, [Ukraine’s] Defense Forces do not allow Russians to ‘cut off’ our logistics,” Cherevatyi told.
In his words, engineers and logistics experts are working to map the new routes. All of this allows the Ukrainian side to deliver weapons, medicines, food and weapons to Bakhmut, as well as evacuate the injured.
“Heavy battles continue, but there is no panic or loss of control. Everyone acts according to predetermined scenarios. The situation is fully controlled by the General Staff, plus we see all the enemy’s intentions and prevent them with fire. All of this enables us to keep the defense of Bakhmut further,” Cherevatyi explained.
In addition, Cherevatyi mentioned that Russia is forced to involve paratroopers in hostilities in the Donetsk region’s Bakhmut, as they are ‘running out’ of the Wagner Group’s mercenaries.
According to Cherevatyi, Russian troops are trying to destroy infrastructure in Bakhmut as much as possible to make defensive actions very inconvenient to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
