Reznikov believes in success of Ukraine’s counteroffensive
Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov has stated he believes in the success of Ukraine’s counteroffensive, the preparatory stage of which is reaching the finish line.
He said this during the news telethon on Ukrainian TV channels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"I believe in it (counteroffensive - ed.). Much has been done to make it successful. Because if there is no confidence of our generals, our General Staff – from the Commander-in-Chief to the commanders of relevant branches of troops – then, of course, there is no point in launching it. Therefore, everything should be planned, three key things should be thought out. This is the availability of weapons need to be used. The second is trained people, our defenders, who know their plan at their level, which means that this plan exists. And the third is providing this offensive with all the necessary things," the minister said.
He specified that the Ukrainian military should be fully provided with military equipment, shells, fuel, etc.
Reznikov also noted that the preparatory stage for the counteroffensive is reaching its finish line, and the General Staff will make the final decision on the place and time of the counteroffensive.
"I believe that as of today we are reaching the finish line, when we can say: yes, everything is ready. And then, based on the decision and understanding of the situation on the battlefield, the General Staff, the Commander-in-Chief and his team will understand: how, where and when,” the minister stressed.
As Ukrinform reported, on April 19, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said that Ukrainians should not wait for the Defense Forces to announce one day the start of a counteroffensive. According to her, certain operations are already taking place.
On April 30, in an interview with the leading Austrian newspaper Die Presse, Mykhailo Podolyak, the advisor to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, stated that Ukraine's counteroffensive would include "dozens and hundreds of different actions."
