Russia is unlikely to fully protect its railways from sabotage - British intelligence

Accidents on Russian railways have caused localized disruptions in the movement of military trains and will increase pressure on Russia's internal security forces. Most likely, Russia will be unable to fully protect its railways from repeated attacks.

The British Ministry of Defense reported this on Twitter, citing intelligence data, according to Ukrinform.

"A recent uptick in Russian rail accidents in areas bordering Ukraine, attributed to sabotage committed by unknown actors, has almost certainly caused short-term localised disruption to Russian military rail movements," the statement said. 

It is noted that although the railway brigades are able to restore rail service quickly, these incidents will increase pressure on Russia's internal security forces. According to the special service, it is likely that the occupiers will remain unable to fully protect the huge and vulnerable railway network of the Russian Federation from attacks.

As Ukrinform reported, the governor of the Bryansk region of Russia, Alexander Bogomaz, said that an explosive device had detonated near the Snezhetskaya station, causing a locomotive and freight cars to derail.
