Armed Forces of Ukraine repel about 50 attacks. Battles for Bakhmut, Maryinka ongoing
The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Marinka directions.
This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06:00, May 7, published on Facebook.
"Heavy battles are being fought for the cities of Bakhmut and Marinka. In total, over the past day, the enemy launched about 50 attacks... Over the past day, the enemy launched six missile strikes, in particular, on Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, and Kherson. In addition, the invaders launched 48 airstrikes and 77 MLRS strikes on the positions of our troops and populated settlements," the report reads.
As a result of the shelling, private houses and other civilian infrastructure objects were destroyed and damaged, people were killed and injured.
Meanwhile, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched seven strikes on Russian personnel and military equipment clusters and one strike on an enemy anti-aircraft missile system over the past 24 hours.
The Ukrainian defenders also destroyed seven combat and eight reconnaissance UAVs. Missile and artillery units hit an enemy command post, three weapons and military equipment clusters, and an artillery unit on a firing position.
No signs of the formation of offensive enemy groups were found in Volyn and Polissia directions. Training of enemy territorial defense units continues at the training grounds of the Republic of Belarus.
In Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the enemy launched airstrikes on the areas of Zarichchia, Leonivka, and Krasnyi Khutir settlements in Chernihiv region. The invaders also fired mortars and artillery at the settlements of Khrinivka, Karpovychi, Tymonovychi, Zaliznyi Mist, Leonivka in Chernihiv region; Ukrainske, Rivne, Sopych, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Volfyne in Sumy region; Lemishchyne, Hraniv, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Lukyantsi, Neskuchne, Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory, Okhrimivka, Chorne, Khatnie in Kharkiv region.
In Kupyansk direction, the enemy conducted an unsuccessful offensive on Synkivka. Krasne Pershe, Mytrofanivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Synkivka, Pishchane, Vyshneve, Stelmakhivka in Kharkiv region were struck.
In Lyman direction, the enemy went on the offensive on Bilohorivka and Spirne, had no success. Makiyivka and Nevske in Luhansk region; Bilohorivka and Spirne in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.
In Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive operations. Fighting continues in the city of Bakhmut. Over the past day, the enemy also conducted unsuccessful offensive operations near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Predtechyne, and New York. Vesele, Minkivka, Orkihovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pivdenne, Toretsk, Pivnichne, and New York in Donetsk region came under enemy fire.
The enemy did not carry out any offensive operations in Avdiyivka direction over the past day. Berdychi, Avdiyivka, Sieverne, Karlivka, Netaylove, and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region were hit.
In Maryinka direction, the Ukrainian troops repelled numerous enemy attacks in the area of Maryinka. The settlements of Heorhiyivka and Pobieda in Donetsk region came under enemy fire.
No enemy offensive actions were recorded in Shakhtarsk direction. The occupiers shelled Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, and Zolota Nyva in Donetsk region.
The enemy continues to defend itself in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. Burlatske, Vilne Pole, Novosilka, Novopil in Donetsk region; Olhivske, Malynivka, Huliaypole, Zaliznychne, Huliaypilske, Charivne, Bilohirya, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Mali Shcherbaki, Kamyanske in Zaporizhzhia region; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region; Zolota Balka, Antonivka, Kherson in Kherson region came under enemy fire. Airstrikes on Vesele and Kozatske settlements in Kherson region were launched.
The Russian occupiers evacuate local residents from the temporarily occupied Enerhodar of Zaporizhzhia region to local recreation centers in Berdiansk and Prymorsk. First and foremost, people with Russian passports are subjected to evacuation. What's more, those who agreed to Russian citizenship in the first months of the occupation are evacuated on a priority basis.
The Russian occupiers continue to use the infrastructure of temporarily occupied settlements to provide medical care to their wounded servicemen. Recently, in one of the villages of Starobilsk district of Luhansk region, the invaders set up a field hospital where up to 70 people are being treated.
