Russian troops carry out almost 30 attacks in four directions
Russian troops carried out almost 30 attacks in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions during the day, with the fiercest fighting going on for the cities of Bakhmut and Marinka.
That's according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which posted an update on Facebook as of 18:00 on May 9, Ukrinform reports.
According to the General Staff, the invaders continue focusing on the four mentioned areas.
During this day, the Russians carried out 20 missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine using air-launched cruise missiles and three S-300s. The enemy directed the latter at Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region, causing damage to civilian infrastructure.
Russian troops also carried out 30 air strikes and about 30 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and settlements.
The probability of the invaders carrying out missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.
Ukrainian aviation reportedly carried out four strikes on areas where Russian personnel and military equipment were concentrated over the day and two strikes on their anti-aircraft missile systems. For their part, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' missile forces and artillery struck two areas of manpower concentration and an enemy electronic warfare station.
In the Volyn and Polissya directions, no signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were detected. Certain units of the Russian armed forces continue to be stationed at the training grounds of the Republic of Belarus.
On the Seversky and Slobozhansky directions, Russia continues to maintain a military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine.
Over the course of the day, the Russian army used artillery and mortars to fire at Zaliznyi Most and Muravyah in Chernihiv region, Tovstodubove, Bachivsk, Stari Vyrky, Iskryskivka, Volfyno, Yunakivka, Mohrytsia, Popivka and Slavgorod in Sumy region, as well as in Hoptivka, Varvarovka, Bugrovatka, Ogirtseve, Gatyshche, Pletenivka, Tykhyi, Mala Vovcha, Budarky, Zemlianky, Vilkhuvatka, Dvorichanske and Khatne in Kharkiv region.
In the Kupyansk direction, the invaders tried to improve the tactical situation, conducted offensive actions near Masyutivka and Stelmakhivka, but were unsuccessful.
Russian troops launched artillery and mortar strikes at Kamyanka, Kolodyazne, Krasne Pershne, Figolivka, Dvorichna and Lyman Pershne in Kharkiv region, as well as at Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Bilohorivka over the last day. Makiivka, Bilohorivka and Vesele in Luhansk region, as well as Yampolivka and Spirne in Donetsk region, came under artillery fire from the Russians.
The Russian army continues to advance in the Bakhmut direction. The invaders conducted unsuccessful offensives in the town of Bakhmut, as well as in the direction of Ivanivske and Stupochky. Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Zalizne and New York in the Donetsk region came under enemy fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops did not conduct any offensive actions, instead they conducted an air strike near Avdiivka, firing at Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Netaylove and Karlivka in Donetsk region.
In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defense forces repelled numerous Russian attacks near the town of Marinka. Heorhiivka, Donetsk region, came under enemy fire.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions over the last day, instead firing at Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka and Velyka Novosilka.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian army continues to conduct defensive actions. Vremivka and Novopil in the Donetsk region, Olhivske, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv, Novodanylivka, Kamianske and Plavni in the Zaporizhzhia region, and Antonivka, Molodizhne and Zelenivka in the Kherson region suffered from enemy attacks.
It has been found that on May 8, the invaders began to take preschool and school-age children with their parents, as well as teachers and other public sector employees from Kamianka-Dniprovska, Zaporizhzhia region.
According to the General Staff, there were few people willing to leave. The evacuation is being carried out to the temporarily occupied Berdiansk. At the same time, all medical workers of the local hospital were called to work.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of May 9, the Russian military once again launched a massive air attack against Ukraine, firing 25 Kalibr and Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles. 23 of them were destroyed by Ukrainian defenders.
