SBI announces suspicions of treason against 23 ex-law enforcement officers from Mariupol
The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation informed in absentia about the suspicion of 23 former law enforcement officers from Mariupol who went to cooperate with the Russian invaders.
This was reported by the SBI, according to Ukrinform.
"It was established that after the capture of Mariupol, the traitors voluntarily put on enemy camouflage with the distinguishing marks of the occupiers," the message reads.
They carried out the instructions of the Russians, made filtering measures on the territory of the Illichivsk, Primorsk and Zhovtneve districts of Mariupol.
The "policemen" also took part in the mass actions of the invaders, provided comments to Russian propagandists, criticizing the Ukrainian authorities and campaigning to support the Russian regime.
23 former law enforcement officers were notified of suspicion of treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the SBI referred to the court the case of a former employee of the Mariupol pre-trial detention center, who was appointed by the Russians to a managerial "position".
