Ukraine advances two kilometers on flanks around Bakhmut - spox

Over the past two days, the Ukrainian military has advanced from 350 meters to 2 kilometers in some areas on the flanks around the town of Bakhmut in Donetsk region.

This was announced by the spokesperson for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevatyi, who spoke at the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"Over the past two days, our troops have advanced to different distances, from 350 meters to 2 kilometers, but the enemy is fiercely resisting. Also, the enemy forces conduct offensive operations. Throughout this day, there were 34 combat clashes in the Bakhmut direction, the enemy 479 times fired at our positions using various weapons systems and artillery, and conducted four air raids," spokesman said.

Cherevatyi added that during the firefights, the Ukrainian military eliminated 149 invaders, wounded 160, and captured another six.

Also, over the last day, Ukraine’s military destroyed two infantry fighting vehicles, two armored combat vehicles, three enemy drones, and a field ammunition depot.

"The enemy above all is trying to capture the town itself, undertaking desperate efforts to this end. Our soldiers hold their defenses, showing the pinnacle of courage, heroism, endurance, and intelligence to repel the enemy onslaught. This is all happening within the framework of a defense operation that has been going on for months and is aimed at absolutely defeating the enemy force," said the spokesman for the Eastern Group of Forces.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in the course of the full-scale war Russia is waging against Ukraine, the nation’s Defense Forces have already eliminated 199,460 Russian personnel and destroyed thousands of units of Russian military equipment.
