Russian troops shell 24 settlements in Kharkiv region, killing civilian
Over the past day, the Russian army shelled at least 24 settlements in Kharkiv region, killing a 50-year-old civilian in Kupyansk.
“Kharkiv, Kupyansk, Chuhuiv, and Izium districts suffered enemy attacks,” Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, posted on Telegram.
The invaders attacked Budarky, Vilshana, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, and Tabayivka with aircraft. Kozacha Lopan, Nesterne, Starytsia, Dvorichanske, Kamyanka, Dvorichna, Kupyansk, Vovchansk and other settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.
In Bohuslavka, Izium district, at least three private houses, outbuildings, and infrastructure objects were damaged by enemy hits.
As Syniehubov noted, the Russian invaders intensify terrorist attacks on the civilian population of the region, using all available weapons – tube and rocket artillery, mortars, aircraft, drones, missile weapons, and small arms.
According to official data, the enemy shelled Kharkiv region more than 140 times, including 24 missile attacks launched, over the past month.
"Russian army’s targets are mainly civilian objects and civilian population which violates the norms of international humanitarian law," Syniehubov emphasized.
On May 16, the Russians once again tried to go on the offensive in the direction of Masiutivka but were repelled and retreated with losses.
Demining works continue in the region. Over the past day, bomb technicians of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine examined almost 8 ha of territory and defused 130 explosive objects.
