Czech leader urges world to continue supporting Ukraine to defeat Russia

The President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel made a public call for the international community not to give up efforts to defeat Russia in Ukraine, adding that certain historical experiences should become the motivation to this end.

This was stated by the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, Ukrinform reports with reference to Radio Prague International.

At the commemoration of the victims of Nazi persecution, which took place at the Terezin National Cemetery, the head of the Czech Republic called for continued efforts to defeat Russia in Ukraine. According to the Czech leader, the motivation should be historical experience.

As Radio Poland adds, Pavel stated that the victory over Russia in Ukraine would be "a refusal to change the foundations of the international order." He urged not to repeat the mistakes of the past and emphasized that not only the Czechs struggle with the difficulties of everyday life caused by the consequences of the war.

The president of the Czech Republic also admitted that maintaining unity in support of Ukraine is becoming and will become an ever greater challenge, the report reads.

Just like last year, the Terezin Memorial sent no invitations to Russia and Belarus officials to attend the annual event held on the third Sunday of May.

The 200-year-old fortress town of Terezín was transformed by the Nazis into a camp where Jews from across Europe were massed until they could be transported to extermination camps. Over 150,000 prisoners entered its gates. 35,000 died there of stress, hunger and atrocious living conditions.
