Poland confirms training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16
The Polish government has confirmed the information about the start of training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft in Poland.
A source in the Polish government told Ukrinform's correspondent about this.
"Yes, it's true," the source said, answering the question whether Poland confirms the words of EU High Representative Josep Borrell about the start of training Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in several countries, including Poland.
The Government of Poland noted that official information on this matter would be available later.
At the same time, the source emphasized that Warsaw is trying to actively help Kyiv in all possible ways, for example, by also training Ukrainian tankers on Leopard 2.
As Ukrinform reported, in Brussels before the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Tuesday, EU High Representative Josep Borrell said that training of Ukrainian pilots for F-16s had finally begun in several countries. When asked by journalists in which countries the training was starting, Borrell said that, for example, in Poland, and refrained from commenting further.
It is known, the spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ihnat said last week that Ukraine could receive several dozen F-16 aircraft from international partners at the first stage.
As Ukrinform reported, the United States considers it a priority to provide Ukraine with F-16 aircraft, and this will begin to be implemented in cooperation with allies and partners in the coming months.
