War update: Russians focusing offensive efforts on five areas
The Russian invasion forces continue concentrating their main efforts in the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Maryinka directions, where 22 firefights occurred in the past day.
That’s according to an operational update by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
"In total, over the past day, the enemy launched four missile strikes. An S-300 missile hit a dam in the Karlivka area of Donetsk region. As a result, there is a high threat of flooding in relation to other nearby settlements. In addition, the enemy carried out 55 air strikes. In particular, 36 Iranian-made Shahed attack UAVs were employed - all these air targets were destroyed. Nineteen attacks involving multiple rocket launchers were also recorded," the statement reads.
The likelihood of further missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high, warns the General Staff.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, enemy mortars and artillery hit the settlements of Senkivka, Snovsk, Hai, Kamyanska Sloboda of Chernihiv region; Bachivsk, Khodyne, Volodymyrivka, Basivka, Oleksandrivka, and Velika Pysarivka in Sumy region, as well as Strelecha, Krasne, Cherkasky Tyshki, Lukyantsi, Neskuchne, Ternova, Vovchansk, Chuhunivka, and Khatne in Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy does not stop trying to improve their tactical position. They also conducted airstrikes near Chaykivka and Kislivka, Kharkiv region. They ran unsuccessful offensive missions in the area of Masyutivka. Topoli, Fiholivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Masyutivka, Zapadne, Kislivka in Kharkiv region, and Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Lyman axis, the enemy launched unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, conducting airstrikes in the said area and near Ivano-Daryivka, Donetsk region. Makiivka, Nevske, Dibrova and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, and Ivanivka, Torske, Verkhnokamianske and Spirne in Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive moves in the Bakhmut area. Vasyukivka, Privillia, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Predtechine, Kostyantynivka, Bila Hora and Severne of Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the Krasnohorivka direction. Their airstrikes hit the area of Avdiivka and Vodiane. Enemy artillery hit the areas near Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka in Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, Ukraine’s defense forces repelled numerous enemy attacks. There, the enemy aviation launched a series of strikes. At the same time, Maryinka and Pobieda of Donetsk region also came under enemy fire.
In the Shakhtarske direction, the occupiers shelled Vuhledar, Prechystivka, and Novosilka.
The enemy continues their defensive operation in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. Their airstrikes hit the districts of Olhivske, Hulyaipole, and Novodanilivka in Zaporizhzhia region, and Novoberyslav in Kherson region. The enemy also shelled the settlements of Zelene Pole, Olhivske, Malinivka, Hulyaipole, Hulyaipilske, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Shcherbaky, Stepove, Kamianske, and Stepnohirsk of Zaporizhia region; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region (seven residential buildings were damaged); Zolota Balka, Novooleksandrivka, Havrylivka, Vesele, Kozatske, Lvove, Vysuntsi, Bilozerka, Antonivka, and Veletenske of Kherson region, as well as the city of Kherson.
"Ukraine’s Air Force delivered five strikes targeting enemy manpower and equipment clusters. Also, our defenders shot down an enemy Su-25 aircraft. Ukrainian rocket and artillery forces hit a control post, and air defense missile system, two enemy clusters, an ammunition depot, a radar station, and two artillery installations in firing positions," concluded the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
