War update: Ukraine’s Air Force launched 11 strikes on enemy clusters over past day
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s Air Force has launched 11 strikes on Russian personnel and military equipment clusters. Additionally, seven enemy reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were destroyed.
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Over the past day, Russian troops have launched 20 missile strikes. The enemy fired 10 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles at settlements in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions (all of them destroyed by Ukrainian defenders). Russians also launched two missile attacks on the city of Dnipro, having fired seven S-300/S-400 missiles and then Iskander missiles (namely, at a health facility). Two Russian guided surface-to-air missiles hit the city of Avdiivka.
In addition, Russian invaders launched 68 air strikes. The enemy used Iranian-manufactured Shahed suicide drones against the Kharkiv region’s Merefa and Izium, as well as guided bombs against Avdiivka and New York.
Russian occupiers also opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) about 89 times.
Casualties among civilians were reported; educational institutions were damaged in Izium and New York, as well as a health facility in Dnipro, apartment blocks and detached houses.
According to the General Staff, the threat of Russian missile and air strikes is persisting all over Ukraine.
Russian troops continue focusing their main efforts on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Twenty-five military clashes have occurred there in the past 24 hours.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remained rather unchanged.
In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, Russian troops launched air strikes near the Kharkiv region’s Strilecha and Zemlianky, as well as mortar and artillery strikes on the Chernihiv region’s Senkivka, Sosnivka and Zaliznyi Mist; the Sumy region’s Svarkove, Boiaro-Lezhachi, Stari Vyrky, Pavlivka, Volfyne, Basivka, Zapsillia, Myropillia and Velyka Pysarivka; the Kharkiv region’s Odnorobivka, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Hlyboke, Neskuchne, Zelene, Ternova, Starytsia, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Karaichne, Mala Vovcha, Budarky and Vilkhuvatka.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russians continue attempts to improve their tactical position. The enemy launched air strikes near the Kharkiv region’s Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, Tabaivka and Raihorodok, as well as artillery and mortar strikes on the Kharkiv region’s Kolodiazne, Dvorichna, Masiutivka, Kyslivka, Kamianka, and the Luhansk region’s Stelmakhivka. Russian invaders conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near Masiutivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the Luhansk region’s Bilohorivka. The enemy launched an air strike there, as well as artillery strikes on the Luhansk region’s Nevske, Dibrova and Bilohorivka, and the Donetsk region’s Verkhniokamianske and Spirne.
In the Bakhmut direction, Russian conducted unsuccessful offensive actions towards Predtechyne. The enemy launched air strikes near Hryhorivka and Bila Hora. The enemy shelling affected the Donetsk region’s Vasiukivka, Pryvillia, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut,Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Predtechyne, Kostiantynivka, Bila Hora and Pivnichne.
In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops conducted offensive actions towards Pervomaiske, but had no success. The enemy launched air strikes near Avdiivka and Pervomaiske, as well as artillery strikes near the Donetsk region’s Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske and Karlivka.
In the Marinka direction, Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled numerous enemy attacks near Marinka. Russian invaders shelled the Donetsk region’s Heorhiivka and Pobieda.
In the Shakhtarske direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near Vuhledar, Prechystivka and Velyka Novosilka, and shelled Paraskoviivka, Vuhledar and Prechystivka.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian occupiers continue holding defense. The enemy launched air strikes near the Zaporizhzhia region’s Stepove and the Kherson region’s Zmiivka, and shelled the Donetsk region’s Vremivka and Novopil; the Zaporizhzhia region’s Olhivske, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Mali Shcherbaky and Kamianske; the Kherson region’s Zolota Balka, Vesele, Kozatske, Lvove, Antonivka, Kizomys, Stanislav, and the city of Kherson.
According to the available data from the General Staff, the cases of refusal to carry out commanders’ orders and desertions are becoming increasingly common in the Russian army. On May 25, 2023, about 20 former convicts, who had recently undergone accelerated training and arrived to reinforce the unit deployed near Svatove, stole a Kamaz vehicle and left in an unknown direction.
