Ukraine asks Germany for Taurus cruise missiles - media
Ukraine has submitted a request to Germany for the supply of Taurus long-range cruise missiles.
This was reported by DW with reference to a spokeswoman for the German Ministry of Defence, Ukrinform reports.
It is reported that Ukraine has asked Germany to provide it with Taurus cruise missiles. The corresponding request was received from Kyiv the other day.
A few days ago, on 23 May, German member of parliament from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Roderich Kiesewetter called on the government to provide the missiles to Ukraine.
He said that Ukraine's partners should now go all-in and provide Ukraine with everything it can use in combined arms combat and that is permitted by international law.
According to him, Taurus cruise missiles with a range of 400-500 kilometers would be a very useful contribution from Germany.
Kiesewetter stressed that there should be no more red lines.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius reacted cautiously to Kiesewetter's proposal, but also noted that he is of the opinion that Ukraine should be supported by all systems permitted by international law.
As Ukrinform earlier reported, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reiterated his position that Western weapons provided to Ukraine should be used for defence purposes on the territory of our country.
