Intensity of enemy attacks significantly reduced in Bakhmut direction – Cherevatyi

Near the Donetsk region’s city of Bakhmut, Russian troops continue shelling the positions of Ukrainian forces. But, just one military clash has occurred there over the past day.

The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for the Eastern Grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Cherevatyi, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to ArmyInform.

“In the Bakhmut direction, the occupiers opened fire with different weapons 250 times. Our forces also launched strikes in response. As a result, 80 occupiers were eliminated, 99 injured, and one Russian soldier was taken prisoner. Three self-propelled howitzers, one electronic warfare system and one ammunition depot were destroyed,” Cherevatyi told.

In his words, Russian troops are rotating now, and the Wagner Group’s mercenaries are being replaced with other units.

In addition, Cherevatyi updated on the situation in the Kupiansk direction. In his words, the enemy opened fire with artillery 342 times there. Two military clashes occurred and three air attacks were carried out by Russian invaders. Twenty occupiers were eliminated and 52 injured. Additionally, the Ukrainian military destroyed Russia’s D-20 gun.

Commenting on the actions of Russia’s Wagner Group, Cherevatyi emphasized that, despite Russian media reports on the so-called success and objectives achieved, Russian troops had failed to establish full control in Bakhmut over the past 10 months. The rotation of the meager remnants of the Wagner Group can be compared to fleeing from the battlefield after a defeat, Cherevatyi added.
