Wagner fighters in Bakhmut being replaced with Russian paratroopers – Ukraine's military spox
Wagner Group mercenaries in Bakhmut are being replaced with airborne troops of the occupying country and motor rifle units enter Bakhmut.
That's according to Serhii Cherevatyi, the spokesperson for the Eastern Grouping of Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
"Rotational measures are taking place there primarily because of the large losses of the Wagner criminal group. They are forced to do it. Units of the occupier's airborne troops and motor rifle units are entering. We know their names, we know their commanders and their combat potential," he said.
Cherevatyi also added that all these units had already participated in the war and all of them had suffered significant losses. Therefore, they were staffed with newly mobilized soldiers.
"For the most part, this is already the second or third composition of their personnel," Cherevatyi said.
According to him, the enemy does not stop attacking Ukrainian positions in the Bakhmut sector.
On May 29, the enemy used various types of weapons to launch 373 strikes and six air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
"We responded with fire damage during which 155 occupiers were killed and 116 were injured," Cherevatyi said.
