Mayor Klitschko visits apartment block damaged in Russia’s overnight attack on Kyiv
The search and rescue operation at the site of a 24-storey residential building in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, which was hit by the fragments of the enemy drone on the night of May 30, 2023, has been completed.
The relevant statement was made on Telegram by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, who had visited the impact location, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“I visited a 24-storey residential building in the Holosiivskyi district, which was hit by the fragments of the Russian drone last night. The house caught fire, and the upper floors were destroyed. The search and rescue operation has been completed. Kyiv Rescue Service has started to dismantle the emergency elements of the building. The residents’ cars, which had been damaged, are being removed from the yard,” Klitschko wrote.
In his words, 20 people were evacuated from the affected house last night. One person was reported killed and four injured.
According to Klitschko, the relevant commission is already inspecting the scale of the damage caused in order to start renovation works as soon as possible.
The mayor called on Kyiv residents to follow safety regulations and pay attention to air raid alerts. Reportedly, a woman was killed in that residential building after she came out to a balcony to watch how the air defense units were shooting down enemy drones.
