Ukraine repels 16 Russian attacks in country’s east on Wed
Russian forces continue to focus their main efforts on attempts to completely seize Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine, where Ukraine’s defenders repelled 16 enemy attacks throughout the day.
That’s according to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports, referring to an operational update as of 18:00.
The Ukrainian Air Force carried out nine strikes on the Russian manpower and equipment clusters.
Rocket and artillery units engaged an enemy control post, an artillery unit in a firing position, two ammunition depots, and two e-warfare systems.
Two Russian reconnaissance drones have been downed.
In total, the Russian invaders launched two missile strikes and 22 air strikes, as well as nearly 20 attacks involving multiple rocket launchers, on the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces and populated areas.
The General Staff warns the population that Russia is highly likely to proceed with more missile and air strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has undergone no changes as no signs of enemy offensive groups being formed have been detected.
Russia continues to maintain its military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine on the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes. Halahanivka in Chernihiv region, Seredyna-Buda, Fotovizh, Hirky and Atynske in Sumy region, as well as Udy, Hoptivka, Lyptsi, Strelecha, Zelene, Ternova, Starytsia, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Pletenivka, Vovchanski Khutory, Ohirtseve, and Mala were hit by enemy mortars and artillery. Vovcha, Varvarivka, Chuhunivka, Ambarne, and Hryhorivka in Kharkiv region were also affected.
In the Kupiansk direction, the invaders ran unsuccessful offensive operations in the area west of Masiutivka, Kharkiv region, and toward Novoselivka and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk region.
The Russians launched airstrikes on the Kislivka and Kotlyarivka districts, artillery and mortar strikes on Krasne Pershe, Fiholivka, Novomlynsk, Zapadne, Masiutivka, Kislivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region. Novoselivske, Luhansk region, was also shelled.
On the Lyman axis, Russian troops launched an offensive in the area of Bilohorivka, achieving no gains. Their air force hit Ternove and Siversk districts of Donetsk region, artillery struck the Nevske and Bilohorivka districts of Luhansk region, as well as Novosadove, Torske, and Spirne areas in Donetsk region.
In the direction of Bakhmut, the Russian army ran offensive efforts in the direction of Orichovo-Vasylivka and Bila Hora – with no success. Kramatorsk, Vasyukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Predtechyne, Bila Hora, Diliivka, Zalizne, and New York in Donetsk region were struck by enemy artillery.
In the Avdiivka direction, the Russian army carried out no offensive maneuvers, opting for an air strike in the Avdiivka area of Donetsk region, and a shelling of Novokalynovka, Orlivka, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Severne, Netaylovka, Karlivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled all Russian attacks in the Maryinka area. The enemy also conducted an airstrike and hit Kurakhove, Maksimilianivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Pobieda, Yelizavetivka, Katerynivka, Kostyantynivka, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region, employing artillery.
In the direction of Shakhtarske, Russian forces carried out airstrikes in the area of Vuhledar and Prechystivka. Bohoyavlenka, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Shakhtarske, and Velyka Novosilka also came under enemy fire.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian army remains on the defensive and opens fire on settlements along the line of contact.
In particular, Vremivka, Vilne Pole, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, Novopil, and Temyrivka of Donetsk region, Olhivske, Malynivka, Hulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Hulyaipilske, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novoandriivka, and Stepove Kamianske in Zaporizhia region, Kherson and Beryslav all came under enemy fire, as did Kozatske, Ivanivka, Antonivka, Komyshany, Dniprovske, Kizomys and Shyroka Balka in Kherson region.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, referring to British intelligence, since early May, Moscow has been increasingly giving up the initiative on the front line, choosing to react to Ukraine's actions rather than actively advancing towards their own military goals.
