Ukrainian forces repel 15 enemy attacks on eastern front - General Staff

Ukraine's defense forces repelled 15 enemy attacks on the eastern front line on Friday, June 2, including eight of them in the area of Marinka, Donetsk region.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a post on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

"The Russian Federation continues to wage a war of aggression and use terror tactics against the civilian population of Ukraine. Today, at night, the enemy once again launched a heavy air and missile attack on Ukraine, particularly on Kyiv. It used attack UAVs and cruise missiles, but all of them were destroyed in the sky," the post reads.

In total, throughout the day, the enemy carried out 62 air strikes and 15 missile strikes and launched about 20 MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. The probability of the enemy launching missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high.

"The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on attempts to fully occupy the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Throughout the day, the occupiers carried out 15 attacks, but units of the defense forces repelled all of them," the Ukrainian General Staff said.

In the Marinka sector, the enemy carried out offensive action in the area of the city of Marinka, but Ukrainian defenders repelled all eight enemy attacks. Estimated enemy losses include to 10 KIAs and about 20 WIAs. In addition, two enemy vehicles were destroyed. At the same time, the enemy continues to destroy Ukrainian towns and villages. The enemy carried out an airstrike on Marinka and fired artillery at the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region.

According to the report, Russia's military leadership decided to strengthen the state border by cadets of higher military educational institutions. On May 31, about 200 third-year cadets armed with small arms and grenade launchers have already been sent to the western border of the Russian Federation under the pretext of training.

According to the General Staff, Ukraine's air force carried out eight strikes on enemy troops concentration areas, as well as two strikes on the anti-aircraft missile systems of the Russian army. On June 2, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 15 cruise missiles and 17 Shahed-136 attack drones of the Russian army.

Throughout the day, Ukrainian rocket and artillery units hit a Russian command post, two ammunition depots, two electronic warfare stations, a radar station and a multiple launch rocket system of the invaders.
