Ministry of Defense: More than 60,000 women defend Ukraine

More than 60,000 women defend Ukraine today, and more than 42,000 of them are servicewomen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"More than 60,000 women defend Ukraine. More than 42,000 of them are servicewomen," the Ministry of Defense posted on Telegram.

This number is constantly increasing because many Ukrainian women have joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in response to the Russian invasion.

As the Ministry noted, this process is also facilitated by significant changes in Ukrainian legislation which allow women to fully realize themselves in the army.

"They hold defense on par with men, fight, take risks and, unfortunately, give their lives. They are a model of courage and dedication for the whole world," the Ministry of Defense emphasized.

The Ministry noted that there were about 30,000 servicewomen in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2021, before the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
