Three bridges flooded in de-occupied Kherson region

Three bridges and more than seventy houses are flooded in the de-occupied Kherson region.

The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin said this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"Water continues to come and flood the settlements of the Kherson region. As of this hour, we know about 71 flooded houses. In Tiahynka village alone, two bridges and 33 residential buildings are flooded. In Burhunka, three houses are under water. In Odradokamianka, a bridge is flooded, making it difficult to get to the village. In Kozatske village, Kakhovka district, three dozen houses are flooded," said Prokudin.

According to him, people are being evacuated from the settlements in the flood zone. For this purpose, 50 buses, volunteers, police, State Emergency Service personnel, and employees of military administrations are involved. Prokudin noted that as of 15:30, 1328 people had been evacuated. In particular, almost 1200 people were helped to leave the Ostrov (Korabel) neighborhood in Kherson. 136 people are housed in humanitarian centers. 43 Kherson residents, including three children, were evacuated by train. With the help of volunteers, 114 people, 15 of them children, were evacuated by car. The evacuation is ongoing, says the head of the Regional Military Administration.

He assured that the situation is under control.

In addition, the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported on Facebook that the explosion caused some state roads to be flooded.

"Sections of state highways in Kherson region are completely under the waters of the Dnipro and its tributaries after another act of terrorism by the enemy - the explosion of the overflow dam, the engine room building and the gateway of the Kakhovka HPP. We are talking about parts of the Kherson-Nova Kakhovka-Henichesk and Odesa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk roads below the hydroelectric power plant," the agency said.

According to the agency, on the left bank of the Kherson region, which is currently temporarily occupied by Russian troops, part of the Odesa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk highway is under water.

On the Ukrainian-controlled right bank of the Kherson region, sections of the Kherson-Nova Kakhovka-Henichesk national road, along which the settlements of Dariivka, Tokarivka, Novotyaginka, Ivanivka, Tyahyinka, and Shylova Balka are located, are now completely flooded. Water continues to arrive, so the flooding of the roads will continue.

"We ask citizens to take into account information about road flooding and coordinate with the State Emergency Service and local authorities when planning an evacuation route," the agency reminds.

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of June 6, Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam. About 16 thousand people are in the disaster zone on the right bank of the Kherson region. Evacuation has been announced. Eight regions are ready to receive evacuees from the flooded area due to the Russians' blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
