Netherlands to start training Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in coming months
The Netherlands will start training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets within a few months and is working with partners to create a training center.
Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren reported this on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.
"I have just informed the House of Representatives about new support for Ukraine. We will start the F-16 training within a few months and are working with partners on an F-16 training center. We will also continue to strengthen Ukrainian air defenses," Ollongren wrote.
A statement posted on the website of the Dutch Defense Ministry says that the training of Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 will begin in the coming months.
"The Netherlands and several European countries are working to start training Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 as soon as possible. At the same time, a training center is being set up in a country in Eastern Europe. The Netherlands is also once again contributing to strengthening the air defense of Ukraine," the ministry said.
Earlier reports said that Denmark and the Netherlands would lead a coalition of partner nations lining up to train Ukraine pilots how to fly F-16 fighter jets.
