British fighter jets intercept Russian planes near NATO airspace
The day before, British Typhoon fighter jets took to the skies over Estonia to escort Russian Il-20s and two Su-27s that had approached NATO airspace.
This was reported by the Royal Air Force press service on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.
“RAF Typhoons from 140 EAW in Estonia were scrambled this afternoon to intercept a Russian Air Force IL-20 COOT A and 2x Su-27 FLANKER B flying close to NATO airspace,” the statement reads.
It is noted that the Russian aircraft did not contact the relevant flight information center.
As reported, NATO is conducting naval exercises in the Baltic Sea. Russian aviation is trying to keep an eye on the Alliance's ships.
