Ukraine seizing initiative on battlefield, but weapons with a range of up to 200 km needed – MoD
Ukraine is seizing the initiative on the battlefield, but the build-up requires weapons with a range of up to 200 km.
Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Volodymyr Havrylov stated this, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Telegram channel of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.
"Ukraine is seizing the initiative - Russia is defending, but for the build-up we need weapons with a range of up to 200 km," Havrylov noted.
According to him, to achieve victory over the Russian invaders, the Defense Forces of Ukraine need long-range, high-precision weapons.
"All our military plans are implemented according to estimates. The main thing in modern warfare is mastering the environment in order to know the position of the enemy, as well as to be able to deliver high-precision strikes at long distances. That is, to have weapon capable of hitting the enemy at a range of up to 200 km," said the deputy minister.
He also added that Ukraine is on the way to receiving aircraft that will primarily defend Ukrainian skies from Russian ballistic and other missiles, protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.
"More than a year of war has passed, and we are confident that we will defeat the Russian invaders, together with our partners who provide us with everything we need," Havrylov concluded.
As reported, Kurt Volker, U.S. Ambassador to NATO in 2008-2009 and former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations, said in an exclusive interview with Ukrinform that the US and other partners had provided Ukraine with sufficient means for a successful counteroffensive, but to accelerate the victory, the Armed Forces need expanded capabilities, including long-range missiles and modern aircraft.
