Rescuers in Kherson come under Russian shelling: 1 killed, 8 injured

The Russian forces shelled rescuers who were cleaning up the territory in Kherson - one employee of the State Emergency Service was killed and eight others were injured.

Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak wrote this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"The Russian army fired at the rescuers in Kherson who were clearing mud," the report says.

 It is noted that as a result of the shelling, one employee of the State Emergency Service was killed, and eight more were injured.

In his turn, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko said that eight rescuers injured as a result of the Russian shelling of Kherson are currently receiving medical assistance.

"One killed and eight injured employees of the State Emergency Service in Kherson. Our unarmed heroes were carrying out recovery works as Russian terrorists opened fire. Emergency medical care is being provided to those injured. My sincere condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased," the post reads.

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of June 6, the Russian forces blew up the dam of the Kakhovka HPP, causing the flooding of areas in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions and, at the same time, the critical shallowing of the Kakhovka Reservoir.
