Shmyhal says Ukraine is on schedule in fulfilling EU membership tasks
Ukraine is rapidly fulfilling the necessary tasks to become a member of the European Union.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this during a speech at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Twelve months ago, Ukraine was granted the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union. We have an ambitious goal to quickly become an EU member. We are already on schedule and even ahead of schedule. We are changing our country. We are rapidly adopting European practices and legislation, integrating our country into European markets. European integration is a complex of our reforms and our changes, including projects to restore Ukraine," Shmyhal said.
At the same time, the war unleashed by Russia has been going on for 16 months. According to him, the aggressor country has not achieved its goals.
"Ukraine has withstood, thanks to the heroism of its army, thanks to the bravery of the Ukrainian people, thanks to leadership, thanks to unity, as well as the pro-Ukrainian coalition and support of international partners," the Prime Minister added.
On June 23, 2022, the heads of state and government of the European Union decided to grant Ukraine the status of an EU candidate country. President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an application for Ukraine's membership in the European Union on February 28 last year.
As reported by Ukrinform, the International Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine will allow coordinating the efforts of the Ukrainian government, the European Commission, and other international partners to quickly restore Ukraine, which should begin before the end of the war.
