Forty-one Russian cruise missiles, two Shahed-136/131 attack drones downed overnight

Ukraine’s air defense forces intercepted 41 Russian cruise missiles and two Shahed-136/131 one-way attack drones in the early hours of Saturday.

That’s according to the Air Force Command, Ukrinform reports.

“On the night of June 24, the Russian army unleashed a missile attack targeting the territory of Ukraine with air-based cruise missiles launches by Tu-95ms and Tu-22m3 bombers, sea-based Kalibrs, and Shahed-136/131 attack drones,” the report reads.

Ten strategic bombers launched 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from over the Caspian Sea.

Eight Tu-22m3 long-range bombers launched nine Kh-22 missiles from the north, south and east.

The Russians also launched two Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles from the Black Sea.

From the south, the enemy attacked Ukraine with two Iranian Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones.

All 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles, a Kalibr cruise missile, and two Shahed-136/131 attack drones were shot down by our air defense forces, the Air Force Command emphasized.

Anti-aircraft missile forces, aviation, and mobile groups of the Center, South, and East Air Commands, Ukraine were engaged in repelling the missile attack.
