Ukrainian POWs still held in Olenivka penal facility

Ukrainian prisoners of war are still held in the Olenivka penal facility.

"Prisoners of war are still held in Olenivka They [Russians] transferred a lot of people and did it in small groups of 20-25 of our prisoners of war to various facilities. They [Russians] did everything so that we lost contact with them [POWs]. But we manage to get information about what is happening there," Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, told ISLND TV in an interview.

He emphasized that he considers the killing of Azov Regiment members in the Olenivka penal facility a "public execution."

On July 28, 2022, in the territory of the former penal facility No. 120 in the town of Olenivka, in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region, a powerful explosion destroyed the premises where Ukrainian POWs were held. According to Russian sources, about 40 Ukrainians were killed and 130 more were injured.
