Ukraine seizes strategic initiative on battlefield – Zaluzhnyi

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi in a phone call with Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley said that the Ukrainian forces managed to seizes the strategic initiative on the battlefield.

"Had a phone conversation with Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley. Discussed the situation along the whole front line. We [the Ukrainian forces] managed to seize the strategic initiative, the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct offensive operations, we have progress," Zaluzhnyi said in a post on Telegram.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces added that the Russian troops are putting up powerful resistance, while at the same time suffering heavy losses. In addition, the enemy is trying to remain on the positions it reached due to continuous mining of the terrain.

Zaluzhnyi also touched upon Ukraine’s urgent needs of weapons, ammunition and equipment for demining.

"I thanked for the military aid package that the USA announced the day before. We agreed to stay in touch and coordinate actions for the de-occupation of Ukrainian territory," the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces said.
