Pentagon officially confirms that cluster munitions already delivered to Ukraine
Cluster munitions intended for Ukraine have already arrived in the country, the U.S. Department of Defense confirmed on Thursday.
Lieutenant General Douglas Sims, the director of operations for the Joint staff, stated this, speaking to journalists, Ukrinform reports, referring to AP.
“Cluster munitions have indeed been delivered to Ukraine at this point,” he said.
However, the senior Pentagon official did not specify if Ukrainian troops have used them yet.
As Ukrinform reported, General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group of troops, said in an interview with CNN that Ukrainian troops had received a batch of cluster munitions from the United States. At the same time, he emphasized that the munitions can radically change the situation on the battlefield.
