Tractor driver blows up on mine in Sumy region
In Sumy region, a tractor driver ignored a "Caution mines" sign, drove into a restricted area and hit an explosive, damaging agricultural machinery. A driver suffered minor injuries.
That's according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
"The investigative team of the Konotop district police department, having arrived at the scene, found out that a 46-year-old employee of an agricultural enterprise was spraying wheat in a field near one of the villages. The work was carried out on a John Deere tractor with a trailed sprayer," the statement said.
According to the tractor driver, he did not see a warning sign that read "Caution mines" and drove to a dangerous area near the field to do the work.
A few seconds later, there was a powerful explosion - the sprayer hit a mine with its wheel.
The man got out of the tractor and saw that the wheels and the body of the sprayer were damaged, and a crater had formed on the ground. The driver received several scratches.
The police call on citizens to follow mine safety rules and advise them never to ignore signs, signs, inscriptions and markings warning of mine danger.
As Ukrinform reported, on July 6, a tractor exploded on an explosive device near the village of Kurulka in the Barvinkove community of Kharkiv region, injuring the driver.
