Reznikov, Austin discuss current issues of cooperation in defense sector

Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov and U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III discussed the current issues of cooperation in the defense sector.

According to Ukrinform, Reznikov posted this on Twitter.

“Exchanged impressions about the NATO summit in Vilnius; discussed ways to speed up Ukraine’s movement towards interoperability with NATO; discussed plans for tomorrow's meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Ramstein format,” the minister wrote.

According to him, the parties also discussed the situation on the battlefield and the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in terms of weapons and equipment.

“I thanked Secretary Austin and the American people once more for the supply of cluster munitions. We will use them wisely, with caution, and in strict accordance with previously-specified conditions,” Reznikov wrote.

As Ukrinform reported, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken earlier said that Ukraine would be "defenseless" if the Biden administration had not decided to supply the country with cluster munitions despite the international controversy surrounding this issue.
