DW cameraman wounded by Russian cluster munitions

Ievgen Shylko, a cameraman working for Deutsche Welle, was injured on Saturday when Russian forces fired cluster munitions at the training ground of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Druzhkivka, Donetsk region.

This was reported by DW, Ukrinform saw.

"We were filming the Ukrainian army during a live fire exercise when we suddenly heard several explosions," said Mathias Boehlinger, a Deutsche Welle correspondent.

The shelling by the Russian army took place 23 kilometers from the front line at 12:10, when the DW crew was covering the training session Ukrainian soldiers were undergoing. The journalists' car was also damaged as a result of the strike.

Shylko is currently in the hospital where doctors say his condition is assessed as stable.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Armand Soldin, a news reporter for the French news agency AFP, was killed on May 9 by a Russian missile strike near Chasiv Yar.

In memory of AFP’s Arman Soldin, activists from UAnimals launched a UAH 100,000 program for volunteers and shelters that rescue hedgehogs to honor Soldin’s touching effort to rescue a hedgehog he found hurt at the front line.
