Search operations resume in destroyed building in Izyum where 47 people killed
In Izyum, rescuers have resumed search operations in the destroyed five-story building where 47 people were killed.
That's according to the press service of the State Emergency Service in Kharkiv region, Ukrinform reports.
Heavy machinery will be used to remove the structures, but most of the work will be done manually. Rescuers will remove building structures layer by layer.
"The approximate places we were told are basements and first floors. As for the number of victims, the data varies greatly," the chief of the guard of the 8th State Fire and Rescue Detachment of Kharkiv Serhii Bilous said.
According to the prosecutor's office, another five to six bodies may remain under the rubble.
As Ukrinform reported, on the morning of March 9, 2022, the enemy dropped 2 FAB-500 bombs on Izyum, Kharkiv region. The explosions caused significant damage to two five-story buildings. Rescuers, together with utility companies and ordinary people, carried out emergency rescue operations for three months. There may be several more bodies under the rubble.
