Situation on eastern frontlines “difficult” while Russians failing to achieve their goals - MoD

The situation in the East of Ukraine remains difficult but the enemy is unable to achieve their tactical objectives.

That’s according to Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar, who addressed the issue on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"Ukraine’s defense forces are effectively restraining the advance of Russian troops in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions. On the Bakhmut axis on the southern flank, our troops continue their offensive," said Maliar.

According to the official, the Russian troops unsuccessfully attempted to regain the lost position on the outskirts of Klishchiivka. "Fierce battles are ongoing," the deputy minister added.

Maliar also noted that the Avdiivka and Marinka areas are impregnable to the enemy. "No matter how much they try to advance there, nothing works for them. But it’s not easy to stop them there. Our brave fighters defend Ukraine there every day in heavy battles amid continued shelling," she wrote.

Offensive operations continue in the Melitopol and Berdiansk areas. Despite extremely difficult combat conditions and enemy resistance, our troops see partial success in the direction of Urozhaine, as well as south and south-east of Staromaiorske.

As reported earlier, Russia’s military death toll in Ukraine has reached 252,200. Nearly 580 invaders were killed in action in the past day alone.
