Russia admits at least one aircraft damaged in drone attack on air base in Novgorod region
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that this morning, a military airbase in the Novgorod region was attacked by drones, as a result of which a fire broke out and an unspecified aircraft was damaged.
The ministry’s press service reported the news on Telegram, Ukrinform saw.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the attack on the military airfield in Novgorod region took place around 10:00. A quadcopter-type drone was involved, the report reads. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the tarmac, where one of the parked planes sustained damage.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on Friday air traffic was restricted at all four main airports in Moscow region — Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky — due to a drone threat. The alert came as an unmanned aerial vehicle hit a building in Moscow’s business district.
