Bulgaria to start sending Ukraine Soviet-era armored vehicles early October
Bulgaria will begin transferring to Ukraine its armored vehicles made in the Soviet period in late September or early October.
That’s according to the Minister of Defense of Bulgaria, Teodor Tagarev, who made the statement at a briefing in Odesa, Ukrinform reports.
Tagarev reported that Bulgaria offered to hand over to Ukraine about 100 units of Soviet-era armored vehicles.
He noted that the agreement on the transfer of equipment was yet to be ratified by the Bulgarian parliament.
"As soon as the parliament returns to its sessions in September, I believe this will be one of the priority tasks. And by the end of September or beginning of October, we will already have the agreement ratified. And I think that the transmission will be able to start after that," said Tagarev.
He added that at the level of bilateral initiatives, Bulgaria continues to provide comprehensive political, military, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
It covers increasing the capabilities of Ukraine’s Defense Forces and personnel training.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Bulgarian government approved the draft agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the free provision of armored transport vehicles.
