War update: Ukraine repels Russian assaults toward Avdiivka

Ukraine’s Defense Forces on Tuesday successfully repelled Russia’s assault efforts in the Avdiivka direction, while pursuing an offensive toward Melitopol in the country’s south.

That’s according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.

An evening update posted on Facebook says Ukraine’s troops operating in the Melitopol direction hold their lines in the gained positions and engage in counter-battery fire.

According to the General Staff, a total of 26 combat clashes took place along the front lines during the day.

Ukrainian Air Force conducted 11 sorties hitting nine enemy clusters and two anti-aircraft missile systems.

Missile and artillery units hit two Russian manpower and weapons clusters, two ammunition depots, and a TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system.

Russian invaders carried out a total of two missile attacks and 38 air strikes, as well as 26 attacks involving MLR systems, on the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces and populated areas.

As a result of enemy attacks, a number of civilians have been killed and wounded, residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure objects have been destroyed.

Russia is likely to continue its missile attacks and air strikes throughout the territory of Ukraine, the General Staff warns.

On the Volyn and Polissia axes, the operational situation has undergone no significant changes.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, Russian artillery and mortars attacked more than 15 settlements, including Rozhkovychi, Seredyna-Buda, Myropilske, and Riasne, Sumy Region, and Pletenivka, Vovchansk, and Chuhunivka, Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, Berestove, Tverdokhlibove, and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, Kharkiv region, were hit by artillery and mortars.

On the Lyman axis, Russian aviation hit the areas of Tverdokhlibove and Serebrianske forestry, Luhansk region, while artillery shelled nearly 10 settlements, including Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, as well as Zvanivka, Vesele, Spirne, and Fedorivka, Donetsk region.

In the direction of Bakhmut, the Russians launched an air strike in the Ivanivske district, Donetsk region. More than 15 settlements, including Minkivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivsk,  and Diliivka, Donetsk region, were subjected to Russian artillery shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukraine’s Defense Forces successfully repelled a number of Russian assaults. Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, and Umanske, Donetsk region, came under Russian artillery fire.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the advance of Russian invaders in the Marinka area, Donetsk region. Marinka, Pobieda, Yelizavetivka, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, and Antonivka, Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery.

On the Shakhtarske axis, Russian aviation hit the Vodianne and Urozhaine areas in Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine, Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery shelling.

In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, the Russians conducted air strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Yehorivka, and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 settlements suffered from enemy artillery fire, including Poltavka, Huliaipole, Huliaipilske, Chervone, and Zatyshshia, Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, Russian air strikes targeted the area near Romashkove, Kherson region. The city of Kherson, Novovorontsovka, and Komyshany, Kherson region, suffered from enemy artillery strikes.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in the Kupiansk direction, amid active pressure from Russian invasion troops, the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not retreat from a single populace across Kharkiv region.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, fighters from the 47th Brigade of Ukraine’s Armed Forces forced their way into the village of Robotyne where they set up an evacuation of local residents in Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
